March of Life 2023

Eighty years ago, part of the Jewish population rose up against Nazi oppression in the Warsaw ghetto. Between April 19 and May 16, 1943, they fought with courage and determination before finally capitulating to German military might. In commemoration of this event, the first day of the uprising was officially chosen by the Israeli government* to be

"The day of commemoration of the heroes and victims of the Shoah".

The Jewish people have taken on this responsibility of memory so that such events will not happen again. What about us, the non-Jews? The Shoah is a direct consequence of our

our predecessors who justified the unspeakable. The horrors committed are the result of traditions, cultures, and anti-Semitic ideologies conveyed for centuries by ordinary men and women who were seduced for lack of truth. It is clear that the discourse on the Jewish people and particularly on the nation of Israel is too often distorted and leads to the justification of denigration, hatred and murder. Are we going to take our responsibility alongside the Jewish people to remember and call to account what happened?

Will you be present to stand up to anti-Semitism ?

For 16 years the March of Life movement has mobilized tens of thousands of people around the world during the Yom Hashoah period, inviting them to take to the streets with the message "Remember - Reconcile - Take a stand", in the face of all forms of anti-Semitism and particularly its modern form, anti-Zionism.

with the message "Remember - Reconcile - Take a stand", and this in the face of all forms of anti-Semitism and particularly its modern form, anti-Zionism.

Although the commemoration of the heroes and victims of the Shoah has been celebrated since December 1949, the government of Israel (Knesset) decided in 1951 to choose the 27th of Nissan of the Hebrew calendar (April 18 this year) as the official day of this commemoration.
